About

Ruth Harries

Textiles

Ruth Harries' distinctive 2D compositions are characterized by their painterly quality, achieved through meticulous hand stitching, material collage, and occasional free machine stitching. These atmospheric and rhythmical works feature manipulated and textured surfaces that embody a contemporary textile aesthetic. Her subtle use of color and interplay of light and shadow create ethereal, tactile pieces.

Her sculptural works often incorporate mixed media construction, combined with hand knitting, weaving, and stitching, to evoke a sense of stillness, presence, and memory.
